Islamabad: The PTI government has decided to lease out Qasr-E-Naz Karachi and Chamba House Lahore located at prime locations for a period of 30 years through a competitive bidding process.

These lodges are located at prime locations of highly valuable land particularly Qasr-e-Naz at Karachi and Chamba House at Lahore.

Sources told Newztodays.com that leasing would include permission for up-gradation of the existing infrastructure and construction of additional facilities to attract clientage. The heritage component of the building would be preserved without making any alteration.

Sources in Housing and Works Division told that move behind is to maximum utilization of state assets so that the burden on the exchequer could be reduced.

The Housing and Works Division was maintaining touring lodges in different parts of the country to provide accommodation for the officers of federal and provincial government when they are on an official visit.

Over the years the infrastructure of these lodges had deteriorated and due to lack of maintenance funds, the facilities were not up to the mark. Revenue from these lodges had also gone down due to a lack of interest in touring officers because of the poor quality of fittings and fixtures.
