Failure to meet registration criteria: Govt gives nod to conduct inquiry against homeopathic colleges

Islamabad: The government has given go-ahead to conduct inquiry against the homeopathic colleges that have not fulfilled registration criteria.

National Health services, Regulations and Coordination Division informed that the National Council for Homeopathy (NCH) is a body corporate established under section 3 of the Unani, Ayurvedic and Homeopathic Practitioners Act, 11 of 1965 to regulate education and research and provide for the registration of practitioners of this system of medicine.

Pakistan Citizen Portal had endorsed a letter of the registrar National Council for Homeopathy to the ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination regarding the complaint against homoeopathic colleges that did not fulfil the registration criteria as per section 17 of UAH Act 1965.

In this context show cause notices were issued to the homoeopathic colleges.

As per section 19, subsection (1) of UAH Act 1965, federal government is fully empowered to initiate an inquiry whether any recognized institution should cease to be a recognized institution. Ministry of Health had sought approval of the government to conduct inquiry against the homeopathic colleges following a complaint through Pakistan Citizen Portal.
