Islamabad: Federal Government has finally issued notification for five zero rated export oriented industries for supply of gas and electricity at subsidized rates, says a notification issued by Ministry of Energy on Friday.
According to the notification, the five zero rated export oriented industries would be supplied gas at subsidized rate of $ 6.5 per unit whereas electricity at the rate of Rs 7.5 per unit inclusive of all taxes and other duties.
Under this package five zero rated industries include textile, carpets, leather, sports and surgical goods and the relief would be from Jan 1, 2019 till June 30, 2020 and Finance Ministry would also release Rs 24 billion under this package whereas the relief package is likely to continue for the next financial year of 2020-21 with tentative subsidy of Rs 20 billion.
It is worth mentioning that ECC of the Federal Cabinet approved the said relief package for five zero rated industries on March 11, 2020.
In the wake of Covid-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Energy, Power Division in another separate notification, directed all the Discos to extend the date of submission of outstanding electricity bills for the month of March till April 7, 2020. Also the electricity consumers would also be exempted from any Late Payment Surcharge (LPS).
