Housing Ministry seeks Rs 537 million additional funds to pay salary and maintenance expenditure

Islamabad: Ministry of Housing seeks additional funds worth Rs 537.706 million to pay salary of staff and maintenance expenditure of Pak. PWD.

Pak. PWD under the administrative control of Ministry of Housing and Work submitted that the additional funds amounting to Rs. 537.706 million are required for payment of salary of maintenance staff (i.e. Rs. 414,908 million for salary and Rs.122.800 million for expenditure).

They have stated that funds amounting to Rs.1, 561.650 million were allocated during current financial year (2019-20) for payment of salary to their 4710-maintenance staff, which was insufficient and no funds are available to meet the expenditure on account of salary for the months of April, May, June, 2020.

Therefore, additional funds amounting to Rs.537.706 million is required for payment of salary.

The proposal for obtaining additional funds through Supplementary Grant (SG) was referred to Finance Division (Expenditure Wing) for their approval. In response, the Finance Division (Expenditure Wing/ Budget Wing) has agreed and recommended for allocation of additional funds amounting to Rs. 291.000 million against the request of Ministry Housing & Works/ Pak. PWD and advised to move a Summary for the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for obtaining Supplementary Grant.

This Division is of the opinion that Finance Division has overlooked the primary need of department and agreed to the request of upto the extent of Rs. 291.000 million which does not fulfill the requirement of department.
