Islamabad: The government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has approved additional funds of Rs 77.4 million for repair and maintenance of Prime Minister’s secretariat for current financial year 2018-19.
This amount is an addition to the allocated budget for ongoing financial year 2018-19.
Sources told Newztodays.com that Ministry of Housing and Works had placed a demand of additional funds for repair and maintenance of Prime Minister’s secretariat for current financial year 2018-19 before the a high level meeting by end of last month. The Ministry of Housing had demanded that supplementary grant amounting to Rs 77.413 million should be allocated for repair and maintenance of the Prime Minister’s secretariat.
Sources said that Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh had chaired the meeting. After a presentation of Ministry of Housing, Hafeez Sheikh also gave go ahead for additional funds to spend on repair and maintenance of Prime Minister’s secretariat. Officials say that this is contrary to the tall claims of austerity drive by the PTI government.
The PML-N government had allocated Rs 15.8 million for repairs and maintenance of Prime Minister’s office for ongoing financial year and this amount went up to Rs 17.3 million due to higher spending according to revised estimates. The government of PTI government has allocated Rs 21.9 million for next financial year 2019-20 for repair and maintenance of Prime Minister’s office.
