Staying in Power: Khaqan Abbasi spends Rs 259 million on 19 foreign trips

Islamabad: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has exceeded others in making lavish spending of national exchequer on foreign trips among former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former President Asif Ali Zardari.

Sources told Newztodays.com that Sharif and Zardari spent most of the time out of country along with big size of delegations. On average, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi made less spending on foreign trips.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi belonging to PML-N has spent Rs 259.59 million on 19 foreign trips during his stay in the PML-N government.

Abbasi remained in government during 2017 and 2018.During these years, he spent 50 days out of country on his 19 foreign trips. He had taken 214 delegation members abroad during his 50- day stay. In year 2017, he spent Rs 117.74 million on 9 trips. As many as 109 delegation members were accompanied by him and spent 24 days out of country. In year 2018, he spent Rs 147.8 million during his stay for 26 days abroad on 10 foreign visits.

PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif

Former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif spent Rs 1.83  billon on 92 foreign trips during his stay in government during 2013 to 2017. During these years, he remained abroad for 262 days and was accompanied by 3227 delegation members. In 2013, he spent Rs 219.6 million on 14 foreign trips and remained 40 days out of country. He was accompanied by 245 delegation members.

In year 2014, he spent Rs 281.9 million during his stay for 49 days abroad on 18 foreign visits. As many as 411 delegation members had joined him. In Year 2015, he spent Rs 460 million on 29 trips and remained 55 days abroad along with 725 delegations members. In Year 2016, he spent Rs 494.5 million on 17 trips and remained 83 days abroad. As many as 475 delegation members were accompanied by him.In year 2017, Sharif spent Rs 378.8 million on 14 foreign tips during 35 days stay abroad. He had a company of 496 delegation members.

PPP President Asif Ali Zardari

Former President Asif Ali Zardari had spent Rs 1.42 billion on 134 foreign visits during 2008 to 2013. During these years, he remained abroad for 257 days and was accompanied by 3227 delegation members.

In year 2008, he spent Rs 145.5 million on 11 trips. As many as 261 delegation members were accompanied by him and spent 22 days out of country. In year 2009, he spent Rs 388 million during his 55-day stay abroad on 31 foreign visits. As many as 849 delegation members were accompanied by him.

In Year 2010, an amount of Rs 120.5 million was spent on his 19 trips and remained 38 days abroad along with 448 delegations members. In Year 2011, he spent Rs 211.7 million on 31 trips and remained 51 days abroad. As many as 731 delegation members were accompanied by him.

In year 2012, Zardari spent Rs 405.9 million on 29 foreign tips during 57-day stay abroad. He had a company of 717 delegation members. In year 2013, he spent Rs 149.9 million on 13 trips. As many as 221 delegation members were accompanied by him and spent 34 days out of country.
