5,791 e-challans issued in Karachi in 24 hours
Traffic police cite violations of seatbelt, helmet, and red light rules as key offences.
Karachi: The city’s traffic police issued 5,791 electronic challans within 24 hours for various traffic violations. It raised the total number of e-challans over the past four days to more than 18,733. According to officials, the action was taken between midnight Wednesday and midnight Thursday.

During the period, 3,546 challans were issued for not wearing seatbelts, 1,555 for riding motorcycles without helmets, 325 for running red lights, 166 for using mobile phones while driving, and 65 for overspeeding.
Additionally, the Police issued 40 e-challans for tinted windows, 19 for no-parking violations, 13 for wrong-way driving, nine for overloading, and six for carrying excessive loads.
The traffic police spokesperson said the e-challan system is a major step toward ensuring compliance with traffic laws and improving monitoring efficiency.
Authorities added that the system is being further improved with public cooperation. Police have urged citizens to follow traffic regulations to ensure smoother flow and reduce accidents across Karachi.
