CEO Dawlance Calls for Effective FTAs with Trading Partners

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dawlance Umar Ahsan Khan on Friday urged the government to effectively negotiate Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and bilateral agreements with trading countries to boost the non-traditional exports of the country.

Additionally, Pakistan should take measures of cutting energy rates and tariffs to provide an enabling environment for exporting products.   

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dawlance Umar Ahsan Khan stated this while addressing a press conference accompanied by Can Dincer, Chief Commercial Officer of Türkiye and South Asia at Arçelik here on Friday.

They also announced to start exporting the first Pakistani-made Air Conditioners from Pakistan.

CEO said that Pakistani engineers had made first locally made air-conditioned that would also be exported in the future.

He said that the existing current FTAs were not favorable as the imports had increased while exports were down.

The officials further quoted high taxation and energy costs as major impediments making them uncompetitive in the market.

He said that Pakistan had double taxation compared to other countries whereas the energy costs were also very high making the cost of doing business tough.

He called the government for considering to reduce the energy rates and tariffs to make Pakistani products competitive in the international market.

While talking about Chinese products, he said that the competition was not a new thing as they were competing them successfully due to following high-quality standards.
