ISLAMABAD: South Korean Ambassador Park Ki Jun has stated that Pakistan and South Korea have the potential to engage in large-scale projects across various sectors, following the model of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.CPEC: A game-changer in strengthening Pakistan’s Economy: Rana Tanveer

In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan’s News and Current Affairs Channel, he highlighted the significance of the transformative CPEC initiative. He mentioned that a similar approach could be adopted to boost collaboration between South Korea and Pakistan in fields such as energy and infrastructure.

The Ambassador noted that Pakistan boasts a highly skilled workforce but is currently dealing with liquidity challenges. He added that Korean IT firms are eager to establish their presence in Pakistan, leveraging the country’s talented young population.

Park Ki Jun also stressed the importance of increasing trade cooperation between South Korea and Pakistan, pointing out that the current trade volume is significantly below the potential that both nations possess. He revealed that trade between the two countries amounted to 1.2 billion dollars last year, underscoring the need for growth in this area.

The Ambassador remarked that Pakistan is rich in natural resources and has a dynamic human resource pool, while Korea excels in advanced technology and economic development. He emphasized the need for joint efforts to improve the well-being of people in both countries.

On the topic of people-to-people interactions, the Korean Ambassador mentioned that South Korea is working to strengthen these connections. He noted that South Korea has a deep appreciation for Pakistan’s cultural heritage, particularly the Gandhara civilization.

The Ambassador announced that a week-long Korea-Pakistan Gala will be held in Islamabad this October, featuring participants from various sectors. He mentioned that the event will include Pakistani government officials and artists from both nations.
