Defence, Martyrs Day being observed 

ISLAMABAD: Marks Defence and Martyrs Day, a day dedicated to honoring the heroes and defenders who sacrificed their lives, and to reaffirming our commitment to protecting the homeland from all threats.

On this date in 1965, Indian forces crossed the international border under the cover of darkness to launch an assault on Pakistan, but the nation successfully thwarted the enemy’s malevolent plans.Event regarding Int’l Defence Exhibition being held in Islamabad

The day began with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.

Special prayers were offered in mosques after the Fajr prayer, seeking progress and prosperity for the country and the liberation of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Services for the martyrs, including Fateha and Quran recitations, will also be conducted.

Radio Pakistan is airing special programs to honor the martyrs and defenders of the 1965 conflict.
