Officials said the recruitment process will be carried out transparently on merit and will include written tests, physical examinations, and interviews. Advertisements are expected in leading national newspapers and government portals soon.

This step comes as Pakistan Railways records financial recovery after years of losses. According to the Ministry’s report, the department posted a cumulative loss of Rs. 6 billion between 2022 and 2023.

However, performance has since improved, with revenues in 2023–24 reaching Rs. 88.792 billion against expenditures of Rs. 88.380 billion, leaving a surplus of Rs. 410 million.

The positive trend continued in 2024–25, when Railways reported revenues of Rs. 93.382 billion compared to expenditures of Rs. 91.120 billion, marking a profit of Rs. 2.262 billion.
