Govt to Crack Down on Anti-Military Social Media Activists
The government is set to launch a crackdown on the social media activists reportedly involved in maligning and spreading hatred against the military leadership.
Sources told NewzTodays that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said in a recent meeting that he would not tolerate a campaign being launched against military leadership through social media.
The Prime Minister has noted with grave concern that while the Armed Forces of Pakistan were giving the highest sacrifice possible for their country, their families and children were also paying the ultimate price.
However, certain shameless segments were maligning and spreading hatred against the military leadership through social media.
The Prime Minister has informed during the meeting that he, along with the Minister for Defence, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, and the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, attended the funeral prayers of Shaheed Major Adnan Aslam, who had embraced martyrdom while being treated at the Combined Military Hospital, following his critical injuries sustained while repulsing the attack of the Fitna-al-Khawarij in Hangu on 2 September 2025.Role of Social Media and Its Impact on Pakistani youth
While conveying his deep sympathies for the family of the Shaheed, the Prime Minister has shown his admiration for the courage, bravery, and valour shown by Major Adnan Aslam in the nation’s fight against terrorism.
He also shared with the participants that he had met with the Shaheed’s family after the funeral prayers, and was both touched and moved by the indomitable spirit and love for Pakistan shown by all of them, including his father, sisters, and father-in-law. The Prime Minister said that Major Adnan Aslam’s family was proud of his shahadat and had expressed firm resolve to sacrifice their lives for the country, if ever needed.
The Prime Minister lauded the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, under whose command many brave soldiers of the Pakistan Army from every rank had sacrificed their lives while defending their motherland against the nefarious designs of Fitna-al-Khawarij and other terrorist groups.
The Prime Minister noted with grave concern that while the Armed Forces of Pakistan were giving the highest sacrifice possible for their country, and their families and children were also paying the ultimate price, certain shameless segments were maligning and spreading hatred against the military leadership through social media.
Expressing solidarity with the Armed Forces, the participants of the meeting observed that the civil organisations must also fight the war against terrorism and their sympathisers in the civil domains, especially in the fields of telecommunications and information, and broadcasting.
They offered Fateha for Shaheed Major Adnan Aslam as well as for the father of former Chairman Senate, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani; the brother of Malik Rasheed Ahmad Khan, Minister of State for National Food Security and Research; and the mother of Mr. Muhammad Junaid Anwar, Minister for Maritime Affairs. The Cabinet also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
