Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) provides electricity in Islamabad and the surrounding areas of the federal capital. The government applies a uniform tariff across the country. It is the most efficient company due to low losses and therefore, its tariff applies to the consumers of all other distribution companies (Discs). What Are IESCO Tariff Rates
In electricity rates, the government charges the cost of electricity and other taxes, including surcharges and a financial cost surcharge. The consumers are currently paying a Rs 3.25 per unit surcharge to pay circular debt. So, the generation cost of electricity, taxes, and surcharges.
The government also pays a subsidy worth over Rs 1 trillion annually to protect consumers who use up to 200 units per month. But if the consumers consume over 200 units during the six-month period, they fall in the category of 300 units, where they have to pay higher bills.
Additionally, the honest consumers paying regular electricity bills have to pay the cost of inefficiency and theft, which account for around 15 percent.
The customers of IESCO are paying tariffs ranging between Rs 3.96 per unit to Rs 50 per unit according to different slabs.
IESCO Per unit Price
The per unit price of Iesco consumers is Rs 3.96 per unit for those consuming up to 50 units per month. These consumers are called ‘protected. The cost of electricity consuming up to 0-100 units per month is Rs 7.74, and those using 001 to 100 units amounts to Rs 10.54 per unit.

And the cost of units for consumers using up to 101-200 units per month stands at Rs 13.01 per unit. These are protected consumers who are receiving a subsidy from the government.
The other consumers using 201-300 units per month fall in the category of non-protected consumers who have to pay Rs 22.44 per unit to Rs 50 per unit.
