Punjab Education Minister Enrolls Son in Kasur Govt School
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has enrolled his son in a government school in Kasur, placing him in the same classroom as children of staff and teachers.
Announcing the decision on X, he underlined the importance of equality in education, drawing praise from citizens who called it a clear example of leading by action.
“I am proud that my son studies alongside the children of our Naib Qasids and teachers,” Hayat wrote, reinforcing his visible commitment to strengthening public schooling in Punjab.
The decision aligns with the broader education reforms, supported by a budget allocation of Rs661b for education, accounting for nearly 24.4 percent of expenditures.
An additional Rs148 billion has been set aside for development in the upcoming fiscal year, marking a substantial 127 percent increase over 2024-25 allocations.

Earlier inspections by the minister revealed 1.8 million ghost students in school records, inflating figures and costing the government around Rs50 billion annually.
Unannounced inspections in Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, and Mianwali revealed fabricated data, missing facilities, misassigned teachers, and administrative lapses affecting schools provincewide.
Officials were reprimanded, suspended, or dismissed, and principals warned that falsifying records will no longer be tolerated under strict provincial policies.
The government announced reforms to deliver Rs10 billion in missing facilities and repair almost six hundred collapsing school buildings within ninety days.
Plans also include building thousands of new classrooms within one year and enrolling over 1.1 million out-of-school children through the Punjab Education Foundation initiative.
