The Sindh has announced the expansion of its women electric scooter training program to Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana following its successful implementation in Karachi.

The initiative aims to strengthen female mobility and encourage sustainable transport practices, contributing to environmental protection and economic empowerment across Sindh province.

The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon in Karachi on Tuesday.

During the meeting, officials reviewed ongoing transport and mass transit projects while reaffirming the provincial government commitment to inclusive development and gender empowerment.

Sharjeel Memon said the initiative reflects the provincial vision of providing equal access to modern, safe, and affordable transport for all citizens.

Launched in partnership with a private organization, the training program helps women acquire e-scooter riding skills and develop greater confidence while traveling independently.

Participants who successfully complete the training course will receive free driving licenses, removing financial barriers and promoting wider participation among working women.

Officials also discussed progress on major infrastructure projects, including the newly completed Taj Haider Bridge under Karachi Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit scheme.

The bridge will be opened to the public soon, improving connectivity and easing traffic congestion along one of the city busiest routes.

Furthermore, the Sindh government approved a new electric bus service that will operate between Gulshan e Maymar and Merewether Tower in Karachi.

The route will include fifteen electric buses, reflecting the administration commitment to greener, more efficient, and sustainable urban transportation solutions across the city.
