Punjab has suspended the verification and computerization process of all manual arms licences across the province with immediate effect.

According to a Home Department notification, revalidation and computerization of individual, institutional, and security company licences have been completely halted.

Authorities stated that licence holders were already provided a final chance to computerize their old manual licences before this decision.

All previous instructions related to the revalidation and computerization process have now been officially cancelled by the Home Department Punjab.

Divisional commissioners and additional secretaries (judicial) have been directed to submit reports on computerized licences issued between March and November.

Reports are also required on the collection of illegal weapons and progress of the ongoing de-weaponization campaign across Punjab.

All commissioners and deputy commissioners must provide detailed data by November 13 evening, covering applications received and licences issued.

The Home Department reminded that the computerization of manual arms licences had originally started in 2016 under provincial administration directives.

The final deadline for licence computerization was December 31, 2020, after which uncomputerized manual licences automatically stood cancelled.

The latest directives have been circulated to all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners for strict and immediate implementation province-wide.
