Pakistani star batter Babar Azam finally ended his long wait for an international century against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The right-hander scored a brilliant 102 runs off 118 balls, including eight boundaries, guiding Pakistan to chase a massive target of 288.

The Lahore-born batter reached three figures in his 84th international innings, ending a drought that lasted 806 days across all formats.

The century milestone came off 115 balls when Babar Azam elegantly pulled Pramod Madushan for a single, thrilling the home crowd.

The 31-year-old last scored an international century during the 2023 Asia Cup match against Nepal, struggling afterward to convert starts into big innings.

During the century drought, he recorded multiple half-centuries across formats but could not breach the 100-run barrier consistently in international cricket.

With this, the right-handed batter equalled former Pakistani star Saeed Anwar to become the joint leading century-maker for Pakistan.

This knock marked his 32nd international century, including nine in Tests, twenty in ODIs, and three in the shortest formats of the game.

Alongside centuries, he has achieved 104 half-centuries in all formats, demonstrating his consistency and importance to Pakistan’s batting lineup.
