State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmad has confirmed that the country’s redesigned currency notes will not be in circulation by Eid.

SBP Governor explained that the printing of the new notes can only begin once the federal cabinet gives its approval.

The governor said all preparations for introducing the updated currency are complete, but the process is on hold pending government clearance.

He emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to maintaining a strict monetary policy in line with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreements.

Jameel Ahmad also highlighted that Pakistan has already fulfilled $6 billion in external debt and interest payments, signaling continued efforts to stabilize the country’s economy.
