CDA Extends Bid Deadline for D-12 Cricket Stadium Project

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has extended the deadline for submitting bids for the proposed cricket stadium in Sector D-12, Islamabad, after receiving a low response from construction companies.
The new deadline for bid submission and opening has been moved from February 23 to March 9, 2026, providing additional time for firms to participate in the tender process.
The extension highlights the lukewarm interest in this significant infrastructure project, which aims to enhance Islamabad’s sports facilities.

The bidding was initially launched in early January, inviting proposals from firms registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model. The process follows a two-stage, two-envelope procedure in compliance with public procurement rules.
The planned stadium will be situated near Sector D-12, offering a scenic view of the Margalla Hills. It is designed to accommodate approximately 32,000 spectators. Additionally, a large parking facility capable of holding around 10,000 vehicles will be developed about one kilometer from the stadium to effectively manage traffic during events.
The project is being developed in coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and draws inspiration from international venues such as the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Originally approved at an estimated cost of Rs. 12 billion, design revisions have reduced the projected cost to around Rs. 8 billion.
Officials expressed optimism that extending the deadline will attract more bidders and foster healthy competition, ensuring the successful completion of this landmark sports infrastructure in Islamabad.
