FIA Recovers Rs1.1 Million in Canadian Visa Scam

The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) in Karachi has successfully reclaimed Rs1.1 million from a fraudulent immigration consultant who had deceived a citizen with false promises of securing Canadian immigration. This refund follows the arrest of a separate suspect involved in human smuggling linked to Bahrain work visas.

Refund in Canadian Immigration Fraud Case

Ajmal Khan, a victim of immigration fraud, had paid Rs1.1 million to a consultant who assured him assistance in migrating to Canada. Upon investigation, the FIA managed to recover the amount and return it to Mr. Khan while ensuring the protection of his rights through legally appropriate channels. The FIA’s spokesperson emphasized the agency’s efforts in combating fraudulent schemes related to overseas immigration.

Arrest in Bahrain Work Visa Human Smuggling

In another case, the AHTC apprehended Yaseen Khan under the Prevention of Smuggling of Migrants Act, 2018. Preliminary inquiries revealed he had promised a Bahrain work visa to an individual for Rs800,000, having already accepted Rs520,000 upfront. Suspicious visa documentation led to the traveler being stopped, prompting further investigation by the FIA. Efforts are ongoing to uncover additional suspects and fully establish the extent of the smuggling network.

Why This Matters for Pakistani Citizens

Fraud and human smuggling related to overseas employment continue to pose serious risks for Pakistani nationals seeking opportunities abroad. The FIA’s proactive approach not only protects victims financially but also works to dismantle criminal operations exploiting vulnerable individuals. These initiatives are crucial to safeguarding citizens from exploitation and restoring trust in legitimate immigration avenues.
