Hajj Applicants Can Transfer Seats to Relatives Digitally

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has introduced a new feature allowing successful Hajj applicants to transfer their places to immediate family members via an online system. This update is accessible through the Pak Hajj App and the official Hajj Digital Portal, designed to assist those unable to undertake the pilgrimage due to emergencies.

Digital Transfer Process for Hajj Seats

Applicants who secure a Hajj quota but face unforeseen circumstances can now nominate close relatives as substitutes. The entire nomination and transfer procedure is conducted online, streamlining the process and removing the need for in-person visits. In cases where an applicant passes away, the family can initiate a substitution request through the portal.

To qualify as a substitute, the nominated relative must hold a registered profile on the Hajj Portal. Furthermore, applicants are required to submit valid supporting documents such as medical certificates or death certificates explaining the reason for the transfer.

Financial Implications and Convenience for Pilgrims

Payments already made by the original Hajj applicant will be adjusted against the substitute’s account, ensuring a seamless financial transition. This enhancement aims to provide flexibility and reduce the administrative burden for pilgrims facing sudden emergencies.

Why This Matters for Pakistani Pilgrims

Each year, thousands of Pakistanis aspire to complete Hajj, a fundamental pillar of Islam. However, emergencies can prevent many from traveling despite having secured a place. This new feature on the digital portal offers a practical solution, allowing families to ensure that the quota is still utilized by someone close, rather than being forfeited. For the Pakistani public, this development could mean increased accessibility and reduced stress in managing Hajj arrangements amid personal crises.

A ministry spokesperson commented, “The substitute nomination feature is intended to support pilgrims and their families at critical moments through a user-friendly platform.”
