I feel special playing in Pakistan: Australia’s opener Usman Khawaja says
News Report
Usman Khawaja, Australia’s opener, felt it warm and ‘special’ after he lands in his native country for the first time as an international cricketer.
Khawaja, 36, is the first Muslim to wear the baggy green cap, born in Islamabad to Pakistani parents before relocating to Australia four years later.
He said he was born in Islamabad and always wanted to return to Pakistan and play.
Khawaja, known for his dashing left-handed batting, is now a member of the Australian team that came to Pakistan on Sunday for the first time in 24 years.
It will play three Tests, three one-day internationals, and one Twenty20 international.
The matches will begin later this week in Rawalpindi.
The second Test will take place in Karachi from March 12 to 16, and the third will be held in Lahore from March 21 to 25.
He had told reporters “Playing in Pakistan is unique, extremely special,”.

“As I mentioned down the road, I’ve always wanted to play in Pakistan.” There is that sentiment, but once the game begins, you don’t think about it, Australia opener Usman Khawaja said.
“I’m looking forward to playing at Rawalpindi, where I used to go to the old stadium as a kid and played once,” Khawaja said.
He added that he had visited Pakistan four times, the most recent in 2010.
Karachi holds a special place in my heart because that is where my relatives live, but we have no possibility of meeting anyone because we are in a security bubble.
Khawaja stated that his family is uncertain about who they will support in the Test series.
My parents favor Pakistan, and I support Australia, yet I practice Pakistani culture at home and speak Urdu with my mum.”
He also anticipates a good reception from Pakistani spectators.
He did not expect a hostile audience since people in Pakistan love cricket and appreciate good cricket.
