PM Forms CCoE To Expedite Work on Energy Projects

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has formed the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) to review the energy projects.
Premier will chair the cabinet body on energy.
The petroleum minister will chair it in the absence of a prime minister.
The cabinet body will review the current legal and institutional framework in the energy sector, expedite project completion, and assess energy policies.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the Prime Minister has set up a committee to tackle the energy crisis.
The committee, named “Cabinet Committee on Energy” (CCE), is tasked with ensuring timely completion of energy projects, particularly those under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
It will also identify and rectify shortcomings and weaknesses in the current legal and institutional framework of the energy sector, proposing reform measures.
The committee has also been tasked to identify obstacles to the swift completion of projects, remove them, review current energy policies and address their weaknesses, formulate policies/projects for energy conservation, and ensure their proper implementation.Sanctions’ Waiver on IP: Pakistan approaches US Administration
The committee will also facilitate inter-ministerial coordination at least once every two weeks, ensuring adequate reserves of petroleum products through policy/administrative measures, establishing effective energy markets, reducing losses due to theft in the energy sector, and ensuring benefits reach consumers.
The committee members include the Federal Minister for Finance, Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives, Minister for Power, and Minister for Petroleum, along with secretaries of relevant ministries, Chairman NEPRA, and OGRA.
