Cnergyico Receives Pakistan’s First US Crude Oil Cargo

In a milestone for Pakistan’s energy sector, Cnergyico has received the country’s first shipment of crude oil from the United States, marking a new chapter in bilateral trade relations.

The vessel MT Pegasus, loaded with 1 million barrels of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude, arrived at Cnergyico’s Single Point Mooring (SPM) terminal off the coast of Balochistan on Tuesday.

The Suezmax-class tanker, which departed from Houston on September 14, is now officially the largest oil vessel ever to berth in Pakistan, breaking a record previously set by Cnergyico in 2017.

The company said this landmark import represents a significant step toward diversifying Pakistan’s energy supply while strengthening trade ties between Islamabad and Washington.

The move comes after a recent government-backed trade agreement that paved the way for oil imports from the US.

Cnergyico confirmed that it plans to bring a second shipment of US crude in mid-November, followed by a third cargo in early 2026, as part of its long-term procurement strategy.

The company operates one of Pakistan’s largest refineries and remains a key player in meeting the nation’s growing energy demand.

Industry analysts see this development as a strategic breakthrough that could reduce Pakistan’s dependence on traditional crude suppliers while expanding opportunities for future collaboration with American energy firms.

Cnergyico’s successful handling of the MT Pegasus not only underscores its operational capability but also reinforces Pakistan’s readiness to accommodate large-scale energy imports in the future.
