CNG Stations Shut After Major Pipeline Purst
A major gas pipeline burst in the Matni area in Peshawar on Thursday, severely disrupting supply to Peshawar, Swat and Mardan.
Authorities restored limited household supply through alternative lines while imposing strict restrictions as extensive repair work continued.
According to the Peshawar commissioner, a 24-inch diameter pipeline carrying gas from the southern districts to Peshawar ruptured near Matni.
The disruption immediately affected availability across the three divisions and forced several areas to rely on fallback systems.
Sui Northern Gas officials reached the site and launched emergency repair operations to restore full supply to the affected regions.
Officials confirmed that domestic supply was partially restored through alternative pipelines.

A 16-inch diameter line running from the Indus River to Nowshera is now feeding the system to enable limited household distribution.
Due to reduced pressure and restricted capacity, domestic consumers will receive gas for four hours a day in the morning, afternoon and evening.
The Peshawar commissioner ordered all CNG stations in Peshawar, Mardan and Swat to close to prioritise gas use during shortage.
Authorities stated that stations would remain closed until repairs were completed and normal pressure returned to the network.
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited teams are working continuously to repair the damaged section, which officials said suffered significant harm requiring immediate and extensive work.
Residents in the affected divisions have been urged to conserve gas and follow the temporary schedule until full restoration is achieved.
