Current Account Shows Surplus of $397m in Dec

The current account in December showed a surplus of $397 million because of tighter controls on imports and rising exports and remittance numbers.

The Current account in December 2022 shows a deficit of $365 million, according to the data posted on the website of State Bank of Pakistan.

The current account deficit in six months of fiscal year FY 24 amounted to $831 million whereas in the same period last year, it was around $3.629 billion. The Pakistan stock shed another 500 points on political noise

During the quarter of October to December current account was in a surplus of $198 million while in the first quarter of FY24 current account was in a deficit of $1.029 billion.
