Delegation of senior judges visits Pak Embassy in Washington
ISLAMABAD: Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, welcomed a distinguished delegation led by Honourable Justice Shahid Waheed, a senior judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, in Washington.
The delegation comprised Honourable Justices from the High Courts of Lahore, Sindh, Peshawar, and Islamabad, judges from the district judiciary, and Additional Attorney General Martina Polášek, Secretary General of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) at the World Bank. Zamrak Khan and members of the US Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) were also part of the delegation.
The delegation is in the United States to engage with their counterparts, focusing on sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance the domestic and international dispute resolution environment, improve contract enforcement, reduce court backlogs, and ensure effective and accessible justice for all Pakistani citizens, businesses, and investors.Pak-US Dailogue To Take Place in Washington in April
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, in welcoming the delegation, highlighted the positive trajectory of Pakistan-US relations and stressed the importance of high-level exchanges in strengthening multifaceted ties and enhancing capacity for better service delivery and justice administration.
He commended such high-level interactions as exemplary of government-to-government (G2G) cooperation and emphasized the need for more frequent exchanges at various levels to advance the justice system and implement legal reforms.
Justice Shahid Waheed described the visit as a journey of hope and aspiration, reaffirming the commitment of Pakistan’s legal community to achieving a more efficient and prompt justice system.
Martina Polášek, Secretary General of ICSID, expressed optimism that the visit of senior Pakistani judges and legal professionals would foster knowledge sharing and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh conveyed his best wishes for a successful and productive exchange.
