Dr. Mussadik Malik likely to become Petroleum Minister
Dr. Mussadik Malik will likely become the new petroleum minister in the new cabinet.
During the PML-N government, he became chairman of the board of directors of Pakistan State Oil (PSO), a state-run oil marketing company.
PSO had been dealing with the oil and LNG businesses.
At present, LNG has become a key contributor to the rise of circular debt.
Regarding LNG supply, PSO was to receive Rs 270 billion from SNGPL.
Earlier, he had taken charge of the water and power ministers in the caretaker set up in 2013.
He had been very close to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Malik has also played the role of spokesperson for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
PSO sales of diesel up by 8% in March 2022
He had also served in the Musharaff government and joined Gen. Musharraf’s signature program, the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD).
However, he later told Dawn that he had nothing to do with the military government. He had clarified that he had joined as a volunteer at the request of Mr. Ashraf.
When he joined the caretaker set up and became minister for water and power, he had contributed well to the power sector.
He also unearthed the scam of stealing oil from power plants to his credit.
However, he had a short time and could not deliver what he wanted.
During the PML-N regime, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was a petroleum minister who became prime minister later when former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified.
