Eid ul Fitr is one of Pakistan’s most significant religious festivals, celebrated nationwide with congregational prayers, charity, and family visits. The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will formally confirm the exact date of Eid based on moon sighting closer to the end of Ramadan.

The holiday schedule applies to federal government offices, while provincial governments typically issue parallel notifications aligning with the federal calendar. Banks, educational institutions, and courts are also expected to remain closed during the announced period.

In previous years, Eid holidays have ranged between three to five days, depending on how weekends align with the lunar calendar. Authorities often declare additional holidays to facilitate safe travel, as millions commute between cities ahead of Eid celebrations.

Transport terminals, including bus stations and railway services, usually witness heavy passenger traffic during the final days of Ramadan. Airlines also record increased bookings as overseas Pakistanis return home for the festival.

Eid ul Fitr marks the conclusion of a month of fasting observed by Muslims worldwide. The day begins with special Eid prayers held in mosques and open grounds, followed by the distribution of Fitrana and festive meals.

With the official Eid ul Fitr 2026 holidays now announced, citizens and businesses can finalize travel and operational plans, while authorities prepare security and traffic management strategies to accommodate the expected surge in movement nationwide.
