There has been much talk about electric cars that are said to replace fuel-based cars in the world.

The higher electricity prices had also pushed costs higher which EV drivers were worried about, according to a study.

According to consumer portal Facile.it, the cost of charging an electric car in Italy will increase by 161% over the past year as a result of rising electricity prices.

“In some instances, recharging an electric vehicle costs more than refueling a conventional vehicle due to escalating energy prices.

And the rates would be significantly higher if you were charging somewhere other than your home, like a public fast station, the research said.

The cost of recharging a gasoline or diesel vehicle was 50–70% more expensive in the past, according to experts than the cost of charging an electric vehicle in the nation.

The price of a ‘green car’s fully charged battery is now comparable to the price of a full tank of gas.

The survey stated that the owner of a compact B-segment automobile would spend €83 ($83) on gasoline for a 1,000-kilometer trip.

It would cost €71 ($71) for a diesel vehicle. The same distance may be traveled for the same price with an electric motor, which is up from just €33 ($33) a year ago, to €85 ($85).

The so-called unified national price of power climbed by approximately four times compared to the first quarter of 2022, claims the Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks, and Environment (ARERA).

In order to prevent further increases in energy prices, the regulator has therefore taken extra steps.

In sum, an average Italian family is anticipated to spend $1,322 ($1,323) on power annually, up from $632 ($633) in 2021.

According to a survey by the National Union of Consumers, the growth of electricity rates in Italy last month exceeded 136% on an annual basis.

Electricity costs have nearly doubled, according to the chairman of the Italian energy think tank Nomisma Energia, who claimed that both Italy and the rest of Europe are going through an energy shock of unparalleled proportions.

He said that during the coldest winter months, Italians should be ready to restrict their food.

The employment of alternate heating techniques, such as the burning of firewood and pellets, has also been recommended by him, though he did add that the cost of these materials has also increased.

Enel’s energy e-service unit Enel X and Eni’s Be Charge, are companies that have control over the electric car charging network in Italy.

They have networks of around 20,000 charging points in Italy.

Italian energy giant ENI signed an agreement with electric charging companies in 2021, enabling consumers to use charging points by using Enel X, Be Charge, and Eni Apps from their smartphones.

This was part of Italy to mobilize electric mobility in Italy to charge electric cars.
