Electric golf carts and electric bikes in Punjab are on the cards
Punjab province feels the heat of pollution and decides in principle to introduce electric golf carts and electric bikes to make the environment clean.
To reduce pollution, Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi has decided to promote environmentally friendly electric mini carts and electric bikes.
He also gave his approval to the introduction of electric mini-carts to replace motorcycle rickshaws.
While presiding over a meeting to review road safety measures, the chief minister recently made a preliminary decision.
During the meeting, it was decided in principle that environmentally friendly electric bikes would be promoted in Punjab province in order to reduce pollution.
The chief minister stated that electric bikes and cars will be encouraged in the province, while motorcycle rickshaws will be phased out in favor of golf cart vehicles.
To help prevent traffic accidents, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has also formed a Provincial Task Force for Road Safety.
The task force has been charged with developing a comprehensive plan of action and taking immediate steps to reduce traffic accidents.
In light of its recommendations, it will also develop an action plan to ensure people’s safety.

The task force will be led by Provincial Minister Basharat Raja and will include the chief secretary, inspector general of police, additional chief secretary (home), traffic, and other officers.
The chief minister stated that electric bikes and cars will be encouraged in the province, while motorcycle rickshaws will be phased out in favour of golf cart vehicles.
He revealed that a readable token sticker would be placed on the vehicles following their inspection and that if the token was missing, the vehicle would be immediately taken off the road.
