EU Pledges €3m in Emergency Flood Aid to Pakistan
The European Union has announced a further €3 million in emergency aid for communities hit by Pakistan’s devastating floods, focusing support on the hardest-hit areas of Punjab.
The funding will be delivered as cash assistance so vulnerable households can meet immediate needs and begin rebuilding their lives.
The new allocation adds to €1.05 million mobilised in September for healthcare, clean water, sanitation and other essential services.
This year’s monsoon has affected almost seven million people and forced some 2.9 million to flee their homes.

The floods have claimed over a thousand lives, damaged more than 200,000 houses and inflicted widespread losses on farming communities.
Commissioner for Preparedness, Crisis Management and Equality Hadja Lahbib said the scale of destruction had been severe and pledged solidarity with affected communities.
She said: “This monsoon season has been particularly destructive for many Pakistani communities. Punjab has faced the worst flooding in four decades.
People have seen their homes, their belongings, their crops and cattle washed away. This EU funding shows our global solidarity and will provide much needed support as they recover.”
EU humanitarian aid for Pakistan this year now exceeds €14.5 million.
