EuroVillage holds a special place in our hearts: EU Envoy

Thousands of individuals gathered at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad on Saturday to partake in “EuroVillage,” a family-oriented festival coordinated by the European Union (EU) and its member states.
This year’s festivities focused on the theme of collectively shaping a sustainable future, under the banner “Stronger Together – Sustainable Forever.”
The event highlighted the enduring 60+ years of ties between the EU and Pakistan, accentuating the collaborative efforts in development, trade and investment, culture, education, environment, and various other sectors.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Riina Kionka, the Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan, expressed, “EuroVillage holds a special place in our hearts; it fosters invaluable people-to-people connections.
This year, we invite you to join us on our journey towards building a sustainable future. Europe aspires to become the first climate-neutral continent and is committed to assisting its partners in transitioning to green practices. Germany pledges EUR 45m to support Pakistan
Pakistan faces significant climate change risks, and the EU is dedicated to working with Pakistan to mitigate these challenges and pave the way for a sustainable future for all.”
The fifth iteration of EuroVillage welcomed residents from Islamabad and Rawalpindi to experience European sustainability and indulge in an afternoon filled with cultural delights, music, and culinary delights.
The festival showcased interactive informational exhibits by the EU and its member states, offering games, quizzes, food stalls, and a variety of activities, providing attendees with an enriching blend of education, engagement, and entertainment.
Moreover, the event featured captivating live performances by Pakistani artists including Farhan Saeed and Quratulain Balouch.
Symbolizing this enduring partnership, an EU-Pakistan Friendship truck adorned the venue, melding the vibrant Pakistani truck art with European symbols and motifs.
Euro Village was jointly organized by the diplomatic missions of the European Union, as well as those of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, and Spain.
