Faheem Haider to head Mari Petroleum

Islamabad: Amid opposition of Petroleum Division and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), the board of directors of Mari Petroleum approved Faheem Haider as managing director of the company.

The Petroleum Division and OGDCL have objected direct hiring of the managing director of Mari Petroleum without following the interview process.

Sources told Newztodays.com that Mari Petroleum’s management had set aside the concerns of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Petroleum division to follow the interview process and decided to hire a managing director directly.

Mari Petroleum called an emergency meeting of the board of directors on Monday to make direct hiring of the managing director.

OGDCL and the government of Pakistan are shareholders of Mari Petroleum. However, Mari Petroleum’s management had conveyed that it was their power to appoint a new managing director, and they have authority over which process they should follow, officials added.

We would like to inform you that the Board, in its meeting held today, has approved the
appointment of Mr. Faheem Haider as the Managing Director and Chief Executive
Officer of Mari Petroleum Company Limited with effect from August 12, 2020, in place
of Lt Gen Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad (Retd), management of Mari Petroleum said in a notice issued to the stock exchange.

Mr. Faheem Haider is a Petroleum Engineer and possesses more than 27 years
professional experience. Apart from handling core E&P operations in different parts of
the world, he has hands-on experience in JV management, business development, strategy
and growth delivery, operational efficiency, cost leadership, and stakeholders’
management.

Mr. Faheem holds a Post-Graduate Diploma from the College of Petroleum Studies, Oxford. The UK, an MSc. Degree in Petroleum Engineering & Production Management from Imperial College London, and a BSc. Degree in Petroleum Engineering from UET, Lahore.
