Federal and Punjab Governments Dedicated to Public Relief Agenda: Attaullah
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar stated that both the federal and Punjab governments are dedicated to the public relief agenda.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad today, he noted that the Punjab government’s move to reduce electricity prices by fourteen rupees per unit for consumers using up to five hundred units is an unprecedented step.Federal Minister Engages with Business Community at FoodAg 2024
He emphasized that this decision demonstrates the PML-N leadership’s sensitivity to the hardships faced by the public. He mentioned that this relief of forty-five billion rupees will ease the burden on consumers during the summer months.
The Information Minister reminded that the Prime Minister had previously granted a subsidy of fifty billion rupees to consumers using up to two hundred units for three months. He added that reductions in electricity and recent petrol prices are significant measures aimed at providing relief to the public.
Attaullah Tarar also highlighted that the solarization of twenty-eight thousand tubewells in Balochistan will offer relief to the province’s farmers.
The Information Minister pointed out that inflation has decreased to eleven percent, with international financial institutions predicting further reductions.
He stated that Mian Muhammad Nawaz has consistently believed in public service-oriented politics.
Additionally, the Information Minister mentioned that the government is working on finding a sustainable solution to further reduce electricity prices, including efforts to cut line losses and curb power theft.
Referring to the arrest of retired Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, the Information Minister praised the Pakistan Army’s internal accountability system.
