Finance Minister to resolve issues of CNG industry
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail on Tuesday assured the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) industry of his maximum support for resolving the problems being faced by the CNG sector of the country.
A meeting with a delegation from the All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) led by Group Leader Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha took place on Tuesday at the Finance Division between Mr. Miftah Ismail, the federal minister of finance and revenue, and the APCNGA delegation.
Chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and senior officers from the Finance Division attended the meeting.
The delegation apprised the Finance Minister about issues being faced by the CNG sector in Pakistan, especially those related to taxes.
The meeting also discussed the proposal for use of CNG as fuel for motor vehicles to reduce import bills and minimize Carbon Emissions.
Finance Minister Mr. Miftah Ismail assured the delegation to resolve their issues and provide maximum support to them, said Finance Division.
Miftah Ismail also asked why, so far, the CNG industry could not bring gas to fulfil its needs and what were the obstacles in this regard.
He said it is unfortunate that the government had not facilitated the CNG industry to bring gas which can reduce the fuel import bill a d support the country’s economy.
The federal finance minister expressed his utter surprise at the creation of hurdles in bringing gas by the CNG industry.
He said that it had led to severe loss to the country’s economy, which has created problems in this regard.
Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, a senior leader of the CNG Association, briefed the minister about the problems the CNG industry is currently facing.
The finance minister assured the government that the CNG industry would support the government in this difficult time by strengthening the country’s economy.
Mr Paracha also presented some important recommendations to solve the problems being faced by the country’s economy due to skyrocketing prices of fuel in the global oil market after the Russia-Ukraine war.
