Fishermen Enjoy Playful Dolphin Sightings

Large pods of humpback dolphins have once again been spotted along the eastern coast of Gwadar, offering a rare and heartening sight for local fishermen.
Early on Monday, a pod of dolphins was seen swimming and playing near fishing boats, leaping through the water and entertaining fishermen with their playful behaviour.
Fishermen described the sight as both joyful and mesmerizing, noting that dolphins often kept pace with their boats for extended periods across the coastline.
Over the past two months, pods of humpback dolphins have been observed in several coastal areas of the Makran Coast, including Jiwani, Peshkan, Sarbandan, and Gunz.

Local fishermen have captured these moments on cameras, sharing visuals of the dolphins moving freely across the region’s waters and interacting with human activity.
Humpback dolphins are widely regarded as friendly toward humans, often playing around boats and creating a pleasant and lively atmosphere through their coordinated movements.
The Gwadar Development Authority reported that an algal bloom had affected the sea for the past ten days, turning the water green and temporarily influencing marine conditions.
Deputy Director Abdul Rahim Baloch said the dolphins’ return in significant numbers indicates food abundance and marine recovery, calling their presence a positive sign for the coastal ecosystem.
