Govt Issues Notification for Commercial Import of Used Vehicles
Indus Motors To Start Import of Used Cars. It warns the local industry to go down.
The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) has issued the Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) for the commercial import of used cars. The notification follows the decision of the economic coordination committee. The ECC had directed the commerce ministry to issue a notification by September 30, 2025.

He said that the local industry will go down all jobs will finish.
In response to a query raised by the Chairman regarding when the Engineering Development Board would notify the standards. ECC Allows Commercial Import of Used Vehicles
The ECC was informed by the Ministry of Industries and Production that the Engineering Development Board had already adopted 17 WP 29 standards and was working to adopt additional standards in consultation with local industry.
This process would be completed by 30 September 2025 with an implementation mechanism through pre-/post-shipment inspection.
The Finance Division emphasized that this process shall be completed by 30 September 2025 with a view to ensuring that the target date of 30 September 2025 may be adhered to. Finance Division pointed out that the Draft Bill (Motor Vehicle Industry Development Act, 2025) submitted by the Ministry of Industries and Production has been cleared by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.
The Chair directed the Ministry of Industries/EDB to lay down the standards by 30 September 2025 and further directed the Ministry of Industries and Production to follow up with the Parliament to expedite the approval of the draft legislation.
The Ministry of Commerce informed the ECC that Pakistan had agreed to remove all quantitative restrictions on the commercial import of used motor vehicles during FY26Q1, following its commitment with the International Monetary Fund under the Extended Fund Facility.
