The initiative follows the announcement by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Owais Ahmad Khan Leghari, offering industrial and agricultural consumers electricity at a concessional rate of Rs22.98 per unit—down from Rs38 per unit—for additional consumption over the next three years. The move is part of the government’s broader energy relief measures to spur growth in manufacturing, exports, and agri-based industries.

IESCO Chief Executive Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood said all field formations have been instructed to engage with chambers of commerce, business groups, industrialists and farmer associations to ensure maximum awareness and uptake of the package. He emphasized that the company is fully committed to implementing government policies and facilitating consumers through timely information and assistance.

The Roshan Economy package aligns with the government’s industrial revival agenda and agriculture modernization goals, introduced to improve competitiveness by lowering input costs and stabilizing energy expenses. Energy sector analysts view the tariff incentive as a key driver for productivity recovery, particularly in textile, fertilizer and food processing sectors that have been strained by high power costs in recent years.

Consumers seeking details have been advised to contact their respective IESCO offices for guidance on eligibility and application procedures for the relief program.
