Imran Khan and Wife Petition Islamabad High Court Over Alleged Unjust Arrest in Toshakhana Case
Islamabad: Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and his wife Bushra Bibi have filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court against their recent arrest in the Toshakhana case.Imran Khan Urges Supreme Court for Expedited Appeal Hearing
The petition was filed through Barrister Salman Safdar and Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry on behalf of PTI’s founder and his wife. It alleges that they were arrested without justification in fabricated cases for political vendetta, with the federal and Punjab governments seeking to keep them under custody.
Both accused were arrested during the hearing of requests for summoning notices, and their arrest during the court proceedings is evidence of humiliation. The political opponents are allegedly using the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for continuous political revenge, despite higher courts having ruled that arrest cannot be made merely on the filing of a case.
The petition asserts that their arrest inside jail premises in the Toshakhana case is illegal, urging the court to declare this unlawful order null and void and issue orders for their release. It further requests that any future arrests in any case be conditional upon judicial orders.
