Internet Services Restored in Karachi After Night of Disruption

Internet connectivity across Karachi was fully restored on Friday morning after a night of major disruptions that prevented users from accessing several key platforms and services.

The outage began around 10 p.m. Thursday, disrupting major networks like PTCL and Stormfiber, along with global platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and YouTube.

As per the Downdetector, users experienced connectivity issues, ranging from sluggish browsing speeds to complete service blackouts that lasted for several hours.

Most users confirmed that internet services began stabilizing around midnight, with connections fully restored by early Friday.

“The internet was extremely slow for a couple of hours, but it’s working fine now,” said one Stormfiber user from Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

While PTCL denied any issues at its end, stating that its systems were operating normally, Stormfiber acknowledged temporary service degradation.

The provider said a “sudden disruption” occurred with one of its upstream networks, but the issue was swiftly addressed through coordination with partners.

Along with local ISPs, platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook also faced disruptions, with outage reports peaking between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Many WhatsApp users complained of failed message deliveries and connection drops, while others experienced repeated login errors.

By Friday morning, all major online services had resumed normal operations, with no lasting impact reported.
