Karachi Milk Price Set to Reach Record High from October 11
The Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association (DCFA) has announced that the price of milk in Karachi will rise to Rs300 per litre starting October 11.
According to media reports, the decision follows a breakdown in talks between dairy farmers and the city administration in the metropolitan city.
DCFA President Shakir Umer Gujjar while speaking to media said that the production cost of milk has reached Rs271 per litre, making the price increase inevitable.
DCFA President further added that when logistics, packaging, and retailer margins are included, the consumer price stands near Rs300 per litre.
It is pertinent to mention here that a meeting was held on October 2 at the office of the Commissioner Karachi ended without a decision.

Officials acknowledged the rising costs but did not issue a notification to formalise the new rate.
Members of the Dairy Farmers, Retailers, and Wholesalers Associations staged a sit-in at the Commissioner’s office.
They urged authorities to approve the price adjustment, warning that if no notification is issued, the new rate will still take effect from October 11 after consultations with all stakeholders.
The dairy associations maintain that the revised rate is necessary to sustain operations amid rising fodder, transport, and utility expenses.
However, the delay in official approval has raised concerns of another dispute between milk suppliers and the city administration over pricing controls.
