Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed an agreement on Saturday to transfer the commercial operations of the Bulk and General Cargo Terminal (BGCT) at Karachi Port to a UAE-based firm.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar presided over the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group (ADPG). Railways link to PIBT Terminal: Body formed to workout Plan
This MoU signifies a commercial agreement for outsourcing operations at the BGCT’s seven (7) berths at the East Wharf of Karachi Port.
The primary objective is to strengthen bilateral relations in the marine and logistics sectors between Pakistan and the UAE.
High-ranking officials from both nations witnessed the signing ceremony. Mr. Shahid Ashraf Tarar, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communication, Railways, and Maritime Affairs, represented Pakistan, while H.E. Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and H.E. Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi, the UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, led the UAE delegation.
Prime Minister Kakar expressed his satisfaction with the growing collaboration between Pakistani and UAE businesses.
