KP Launches Digital Revolution Plan with Fee Waiver
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a three-year waiver on charges for telecom companies laying underground cable networks. The decision aims to accelerate digital revolution in the province by reducing infrastructure costs and promoting affordable internet access.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Science and Technology Dr Shafqat Ayaz said the initiative will strengthen connectivity for students, freelancers, and businesses.
The Special Assistant added that improved access to high-speed internet will expand online education, employment, and healthcare opportunities across the province.

Dr Shafqat Ayaz noted that the youth will be the main beneficiaries of this digital policy, as they increasingly depend on internet services for freelancing and remote learning. The business community, banking sector, and hospitals will also gain from better digital infrastructure.
Dr Ayaz clarified that the regulation of internet suspension or restoration does not fall under provincial jurisdiction. He explained that such matters remain under the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, which operates directly under the federal government.
The provincial administration, however, remains determined to take all possible steps within its authority to enhance digital access.
Dr Ayaz emphasized that the government is fully committed to advancing the digital revolution plan, ensuring every citizen benefits from modern technology and connectivity across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
