The minister welcomed Kuwait’s commitment to support Pakistani-flagged vessels in lifting petroleum products, particularly diesel and jet fuel, as Islamabad seeks to ensure stable energy supplies. He expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s continued support during challenging global and regional conditions, noting its importance for Pakistan’s energy security.

Pakistan has relied on Kuwait for petroleum supplies for nearly five decades, reflecting a longstanding trade relationship anchored in mutual trust. Officials said diesel imports remain critical for Pakistan’s transport and agriculture sectors, which are highly sensitive to fuel availability and price fluctuations.

Ali Pervaiz Malik also conveyed appreciation for Kuwait’s leadership, requesting the ambassador to pass on regards to Kuwait’s Oil Minister Tariq Suleiman Ahmed Al-Roumi and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation CEO Sheikh Nawaf Al Sabah. He emphasized that Pakistan-Kuwait relations are deeply rooted and extend beyond formal diplomacy.

The discussions also covered regional peace and stability, with Pakistan reiterating its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution. The minister said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to support stability and facilitate the supply of food and essential commodities where needed, particularly for Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Kuwait’s ambassador acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role and praised its efforts to promote peace during recent regional tensions. He commended the leadership of Pakistan’s government and armed forces for advocating restraint and dialogue, adding that Kuwait values Pakistan’s contributions to regional stability.

Both sides reaffirmed their intention to expand cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, where Pakistan continues to diversify supply sources amid fluctuating global oil markets. Officials noted that collaboration with reliable partners like Kuwait remains central to Pakistan’s strategy to manage fuel imports and maintain supply chain resilience.

The assurance from Kuwait Petroleum Corporation is expected to ease logistical concerns for Pakistani importers by ensuring smoother vessel operations and timely fuel deliveries. Industry stakeholders say such facilitation could help stabilize domestic fuel supply, especially during periods of high demand.

Pakistan and Kuwait agreed to maintain close engagement to explore further opportunities in energy and other sectors of mutual interest. The development signals continued strengthening of Pakistan-Kuwait ties, with energy cooperation remaining a cornerstone of the bilateral relationship.
