Kyrgyz armed forces open fire on Tajik Village, violate ceasefire Conditions
DUSHANBE – According to the Press Center of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz armed forces disregarded the conditions and requirements of the declared ceasefire and opened fire today at 11:50 from Grad military equipment from the Jonoloy district of the Kyrgyz Osh region on the houses of Tojvaron village residents in the Sayliobod rural community of the Lakhsh district of Tajikistan.
According to the source quoted by NIAT Khovar, four residents were hurt and three houses were destroyed as a result.
At today’s 14:30 meeting between officials of the relevant departments of the two countries, a ceasefire and normalisation of the situation were agreed upon.
“However, between 17:20 and 18:10, Kyrgyz border guards breached the agreement and opened fire with various types of weapons, including Grad military equipment, on Tajik communities in the Lakhsh district,” the report states.
At 19:00, the parties agreed to a second truce.
However, the situation along the Tajik-Kyrgyz state border in this region continues to be chaotic.
