LESCO Simplifies New Power Connection Process

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has introduced a new policy to resolve the shortage of single-phase meters, which disrupted connections and operations in recent weeks.

Under this arrangement, consumers can now purchase single-phase AMI smart meters directly from LESCO-approved manufacturers through a proper No Objection Certificate system.

LESCO will issue NOCs to eligible consumers, allowing them to buy meters legally from the open market while maintaining full transparency and regulatory compliance.

A notification issued by the Material Management Department of LESCO confirmed that this measure aims to overcome supply shortages and ensure service continuity.

Consumers purchasing meters will receive demand notices outlining technical specifications, payment procedures, and installation requirements before activation.

The prolonged shortage of meters had earlier caused delays in new electricity connections and maintenance work, affecting both residential and commercial consumers.

LESCO has also directed its teams to test older meters in laboratories and replace defective ones to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply for existing connections.

Officials said the new plan is part of a wider effort to improve efficiency, enhance customer service, and ensure consistent access to reliable electricity in Lahore.

In addition, LESCO has simplified its procedure for obtaining new power connections in 2025 to make the process faster and more transparent for applicants.

Consumers can now download application forms online or visit nearby service centres, submit documents, pay the required fees, and wait for inspection approval.

After payment verification, technical staff of LESCO installs and activates new electricity meters within a few working days, depending on the location and connection type.

Service line charges for 2025 vary by distance, starting from Rs 8,500 for 20–30 metres and reaching up to Rs 60,000 for longer connections requiring poles.

The company believes these reforms will help reduce delays, improve operational performance, and provide consumers with easier access to essential electricity services.
