LPG price slashed by Rs 13 per kg
Shahbaz Shareef’s government has given good news for poor LPG consumers. LPG price slashed by Rs 13 per kg. Dealers suggest a formula for more reduction
In wake of disturbing news regarding higher petroleum prices, Shahbaz Sharif’s government have given good news to poor LPG consumers, and the state-owned Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has slashed the price of LPG by Rs 13 per kg to Rs 218.76 per kg.
Now the domestic cylinder will be sold at Rs 2581.35/- and the commercial cylinder will be available at Rs 9931.65/-.
The LPG Industries Association of Pakistan keeping in view the efforts and noble intentions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to bring respite to the life of the masses has said that further relief can also be given by the government in LPG price. The current official rate of LPG can be reduced by about Rs 100 per kg (50%).
LPG Industries Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar said the task can be achieved by following the formula of the association, which is as follows:
1-Fix/ freeze the LPG producer base price at Rs 40.000/- per metric tonne.
2-Increase the local LPG production.
3-Above all, Asia’s largest plant Jamshoro Joint Venture Limited (JJVL), which has been closed for two years and has caused losses of Rs. 50 billion to the national exchequer, should be started immediately.
The LPG is 45% cheaper than petrol and diesel which can be further made cheaper by approximately 60 to 65 per cent for the poor LPG consumers as per our formula.
“Mr PM, please provide this severely needed sigh of relief to the people immediately as the government can reduce the price of LPG without giving anything from itself and thus no burden on the national kitty,” Mr Khokhar urged.
The chairman said that the LPG industry should be saved from catastrophe. “By reducing the price of Pakistan’s five largest LPG producers affordable LPG to the country’s poor consumers will be available along with a marked reduction in deforestation thus the dream of Greener Pakistan will also come true.”
