Margalla Avenue Extension Nears Completion Ahead of April

The extension of Margalla Avenue in Islamabad is on track to be finished well before its scheduled April deadline, according to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The project is expected to be completed within the coming weeks, which promises improved travel routes for commuters in the region.

Enhancing Connectivity and Traffic Flow

During a late-night inspection near Sangjani, Minister Naqvi highlighted that the newly constructed interchange will significantly ease traffic congestion. It will facilitate smoother access for travelers coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa towards Islamabad and will also provide a more efficient route to Islamabad International Airport.

The extension involves several technical components, including the building of an interchange bridge with piling, foundation excavation, along with constructing retaining and abutment walls. Additionally, work teams are engaged in roadbed preparation, relocating utilities, and clearing construction sites that encountered land and technical challenges.

Project Oversight and Importance for Pakistan

The inspection was carried out with senior officials such as the CDA chairman, Islamabad’s Inspector General of Police, and technical experts, signaling high-level governmental oversight. The Margalla Avenue extension aims to enhance connectivity between Islamabad and the motorway network, a vital infrastructure improvement for the capital region.

For Pakistan’s commuters, this development means reduced travel times and better access to key locations, supporting economic activity and daily mobility. Upgrading such infrastructure is crucial as the capital experiences growing traffic demands and urban expansion.
