Meta has announced a significant expansion of its collaboration with NVIDIA, involving the purchase of millions of NVIDIA Blackwell and Rubin GPUs.
This strategic move aims to enhance AI-powered features in WhatsApp while prioritizing user data privacy and security.
The partnership will introduce NVIDIA’s Confidential Computing technology to WhatsApp, enabling secure data processing during computation rather than only during data transfer to servers.
This technology not only safeguards user information but also protects the intellectual property of Meta and third-party AI developers by ensuring the security of AI models and software during complex operations.

In addition to GPUs, Meta will be the first to deploy NVIDIA’s Grace CPUs independently, designed for efficient inference and agent-based workloads. The company will also incorporate NVIDIA’s Spectrum-X Ethernet switches to bolster its infrastructure capabilities.
This development aligns with Meta’s broader AI investment plans, which include a commitment of up to $135 billion by 2026. Industry analysts anticipate that a substantial portion of this investment, potentially in the tens of billions, will be directed towards NVIDIA technology.
Furthermore, Meta plans to establish up to 30 new data centers globally by 2028, with 26 located in the United States, as part of a comprehensive $600 billion technology initiative.
The expanded partnership underscores Meta’s dedication to advancing its AI capabilities while maintaining stringent user privacy standards.
It also signals deeper integration with NVIDIA’s hardware and software platforms, paving the way for more sophisticated AI-driven services across Meta’s ecosystem.
